Consulting for businesses
Workshop Ape
I help a business find what is really slowing it down, then put it right: a clearer process, better information, an AI tool put to work, or software written for the business.
Taking on work What I do
Businesses of any size, and mostly small and medium ones: owners and managers who know something is slowing the business down, or who are being asked what they are doing about AI.
Talking Ape is one person, John de Vere, in Melbourne.
What Talking Ape does
Workshop Ape
I help a business find what is really slowing it down, then put it right: a clearer process, better information, an AI tool put to work, or software written for the business.
Taking on work What I do
Classroom Ape
A short course for staff on using AI at work sensibly, taught by animated ape characters, led by Barnaby, the Classroom Ape.
Being written. Not yet available.
Library Ape
Library Ape is working memory for your AI agent, and it is not tied to any one AI provider. It saves the decisions, patterns and pitfalls from your working sessions, uses AI to turn them into short memories, and hands them back with the sources shown when you ask. Hosted in Australia.

Coming soon
A system that learns your business and runs your own processes on that knowledge: steps that cannot be skipped, work checked before it is called done, and a record of who did what, with any AI doing the legwork. I've built it myself and used it every day for more than a year, and I am now looking for the first few businesses to set it up with.
Who runs it
Talking Ape is one person: John de Vere, the owner, in Melbourne.
I have worked in workforce management, contact centres, process and performance improvement, data analysis and consulting, and led change along the way. I now build software with AI tools and use AI in my work every day.
The tools
I use AI tools heavily in my own work: to draft and analyse, to make the training material for the course, and inside Library Ape, where AI sorts and condenses the record of past sessions. I decide what the tools look at and what they are for, and I check what comes out before anyone relies on it. In consulting work, any recording or transcription tool is named before anything is recorded, everyone in the room is asked, and anyone who would rather not be recorded gets written notes instead.
